OUR IMPACT

We measure, verify, and certify environmental progress to ensure that each action leads to a real impact.

OUR PROGRAMS

More than just programs: updated, auditable processes backed by accredited organizations.

GHG Crediting Program

BioCarbon’s GHG Crediting Program establishes a high-integrity framework for Verified Carbon Credits (VCCs) generated by projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The program applies to climate mitigation projects across multiple sectors, including nature-based solutions, forest conservation, carbon removals, clean energy, energy efficiency, sustainable transport, and waste management.

Through the BioCarbon Standard, eligible projects must meet requirements for additionality, conservative GHG quantification, monitoring, leakage management, uncertainty assessment, safeguards, permanence, independent validation and verification, and avoidance of double counting.

BioCarbon Cert administers the program and makes programmatic decisions based on documented evidence, independent assessment, and the applicable requirements of the BioCarbon Standard.

Biodiversity Crediting Program

The BioCarbon Biodiversity Standard establishes requirements for high-integrity biodiversity credits (BioCredits) from initiatives that conserve, restore, and promote the sustainable use of biodiversity.

The program is designed for biodiversity conservation initiatives, ecosystem restoration activities, nature-based solutions, and sustainable land management actions that generate measurable biodiversity outcomes.

By aligning technical requirements with global biodiversity goals, including the Global Biodiversity Framework, the program contributes to credible market mechanisms for addressing biodiversity loss and mobilizing finance for nature.

Eligible initiatives are subject to requirements for ecological condition, conservation significance, baseline definition, monitoring, safeguards, stakeholder engagement, long-term management, independent auditing, and traceable issuance of Voluntary Biodiversity Credits.

BioCarbon Cert administers the program and determines conformity based on documented evidence, the applicable requirements of the BioCarbon Biodiversity Standard, and the audit report issued by qualified Conformity Assessment Bodies.

Water Crediting Program

The BioCarbon Water Standard establishes requirements for high-integrity water credits from projects that generate measurable benefits for water security, watershed conservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable water management, and water quality improvement.

The program applies to eligible water projects and nature-based solutions focused on efficient water use, water source protection, aquifer recharge, soil and landscape management for water retention, pollution reduction, and the restoration of water-related ecosystem functions.

Verified Water Credits are issued only after the applicable requirements for baseline definition, quantification of water benefits, monitoring, safeguards, stakeholder engagement, independent assessment, conformity determination, and traceable issuance have been completed.

BioCarbon Cert administers the program and determines conformity based on documented evidence, the applicable requirements of the BioCarbon Water Standard, and the assessment report issued by qualified Conformity Assessment Bodies.

Blockchain
Ecosystem

In order to provide immutability to the valuable information contained in our platform, our records are based on Hyperledger Fabric technology. This includes all the security mechanisms that guarantee the integrity of the data stored in the BlockChain.

Our gateway, Stamping.io, is one of the BlockChain organisms that have nodes implemented on LACChain.

Driving Change with Institutional Support

BioCarbon is globally recognized as an ICROA-endorsed GHG Program. This milestone is a worldwide recognition of the high-quality of the Standard and the integrity, credibility, and reliability of the approach for issuing and reporting GHG emissions reductions and removals.

In addition, the confirmed commitment of BCR to sustainability and climate change targets.

The integration the BioCarbon into the CAD Trust blockchain-based system strengthens the Programs's measures for avoiding double counting and guaranteeing transparency. Moreover, it facilitates the traceability of organizations and countries in achieving climate change goals. Through a peer-to-peer connection between BioCarbon and CAD Trust, the information on projects facilitates tracking and reduces the risk of overlap between BioCarbon registered projects and other initiatives/registries.

In addition, the confirmed commitment of BCR to sustainability and climate change targets.
