The BioCarbon Water Standard (BWS) provides the program framework for issuing Verified Water Credits from eligible projects that generate measurable outcomes in water security, watershed conservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable water management, and water quality improvement.
The BWS covers projects and nature-based solutions focused on efficient water use, water source protection, aquifer recharge, soil and landscape management for water retention, pollution reduction, and restoration of water-related ecosystem functions.
Verified Water Credits are issued only after the applicable requirements for quantification, monitoring, safeguards, independent assessment, conformity determination, and traceable issuance have been completed.
