The BioCarbon Biodiversity Standard (BBS) sets the technical and governance requirements for the conformity assessment of plans, programs, projects, actions, activities, or measures aimed at the conservation of biological diversity.
Initiatives are audited by independent, accredited Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs); based on the resulting Audit Report, BioCarbon determines conformity with the BBS and authorizes the registration and issuance of Voluntary Biodiversity Credits (BioCredits).
The BBS applies both to voluntary biodiversity conservation initiatives and to initiatives developed within the framework of compliance with environmental obligations.
