Public Consultation

Through the Public Consultation process, we invite stakeholders from around the world to actively contribute to the development and continuous improvement of documents and projects under our GHG, Biodiversity, and Water programs.

This page serves as a central hub where you can explore all documents and projects currently open for public consultation. Each consultation period remains open for a minimum of 30 calendar days from the date of publication. During this time, we welcome comments, suggestions, and observations from all interested parties.

Public consultation is essential to:

  • Ensure open and transparent interaction between BioCarbon and stakeholders;
  • Apply the guiding principles of our programs, including responsibility, quality, and integrity;
  • Uphold the right of individuals and organizations to influence decisions in a free, individual, and collective manner.

We encourage participation from a broad range of stakeholders, including:

  • Project developers, validation and verification bodies, and actors in national and international carbon, biodiversity, and water markets;
  • Relevant industry and sectoral stakeholders affected by the document in question;
  • Governmental and regulatory entities.

Public Consultation Open – Methodology for IFM and Avoided Planned Forest Conversion (BCR0010)

BioCarbon announces the opening of a public consultation for the proposed methodology:

BCR0010 – Improved Forest Management and Avoided Planned Forest Conversion (IFM – APFC)

This methodology enables the quantification of GHG emission reductions from activities that avoid the conversion of natural forests or improve the sustainability of authorized timber harvesting regimes.

The methodology incorporates the BioCarbon Additionality Tool, Permanence Tool, Uncertainty Tool, MRV and ADC tools, and has been designed to comply with the integrity carbon principles.

Stakeholders are invited to provide comments and feedback between 01/07/2025 and 31/07/2025.

Public Consultation – ARR Methodology (BCR0001) Version 5.0

BioCarbon announces the public consultation of the Methodology for Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR – BCR0001, Version 5.0).

This methodology provides a rigorous technical framework to transparently, verifiably, and conservatively quantify GHG removals derived from ARR activities. It includes provisions on baseline scenario, additionality, stratification, leakage quantification, uncertainty management, permanence and reversal risk, as well as monitoring requirements, quality assurance (QA/QC), and the optional integration of digital and continuous monitoring technologies (dMRV).

We invite all stakeholders to review the document and submit comments and feedback during the public consultation period. Your input is essential to ensure that this methodology meets the highest standards of environmental integrity and international credibility.

Document available at:

The consultation period will run from September 26 to October 25, 2025.

Public Consultation – High Mountain Ecosystems (EAM) Methodology of the BioCarbon Standard.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the public consultation for the High Mountain Ecosystems (EAM) Methodology, version 4.0 of the BioCarbon Standard.

This methodology has been designed to provide a robust and transparent framework for the quantification, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of net greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and removals in high mountain ecosystems, including wetlands and peatlands.

Download the draft methodology here:

The purpose of this consultation is to gather technical comments, suggestions, and feedback from all interested parties to further strengthen the methodology before its final version 4.0.

The consultation period will run from September 9 to October 8, 2025. We kindly invite you to review the full document and share your contributions by the deadline, either by email at biocarbon@biocarbonstandard.com, using the template available at the following link. We sincerely thank you for your active participation, which is essential to ensuring the technical robustness and legitimacy of this normative instrument.

Public Consultation – BCR0012 Blue Carbon Methodology

BioCarbon is pleased to announce the release of the BCR0012 Blue Carbon Methodology for public consultation.

This methodology has been designed to provide a scientifically rigorous, transparent, and applicable framework for the quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions and removals from the conservation and restoration of coastal and marine ecosystems such as mangroves, tidal marshes, and seagrasses.

The methodology builds upon the latest guidance of the IPCC 2006 Guidelines and the 2013 Wetlands Supplement, as well as the 2019 Refinement, ensuring that emission factors, default parameters, and monitoring requirements are fully aligned with recognized science. It also incorporates provisions consistent with the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles, CORSIA eligibility criteria, and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, ensuring that resulting units are robust and internationally credible.

Download the draft methodology here:

This consultation process aims to ensure that the methodology reflects both the best available science and the practical realities of project development. Stakeholders are invited to submit comments and suggestions, which will be carefully reviewed and incorporated into the final version to reinforce the credibility, applicability, and impact of Blue Carbon projects under the BioCarbon Standard.

The consultation period will run from September 3 to October 2, 2025.

Public consultation - BioCarbon Water Standard’s new Methodology

BioCarbon opens public consultation on the methodology for quantifying water credits from increased infiltration

The BioCarbon Water Standard invites stakeholders to review and comment on the draft version of the methodology BWS0001. Quantification of Water Credits from Increased Infiltration in Watersheds, a key technical document designed to strengthen the integrity and transparency of water-based nature-based solutions (NbS) certification.

This methodology sets out the procedures and technical criteria to quantify net water gains (m³/year) resulting from soil restoration, sustainable land management, and water conservation activities. Its application enables the issuance of Verified Water Credits (VWC) under the BioCarbon Program, promoting investments in water security, climate resilience, and landscape sustainability.

We welcome feedback from professionals, institutions, communities, public and private entities, and all interested stakeholders. The consultation will remain open until July 26, 2025, and all comments will be considered in the final version of the document.
