Advancing Digital Innovation for High-Integrity Climate and Nature Solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n

BioCarbon Standard, in partnership with Planet2050, is launching a Digital MRV (Monitoring, Reporting & Verification) Working Group to accelerate the integration of digital technologies into carbon, biodiversity and water certification.<\/p>\n

The Working Group will bring together up to 10 individuals and organizations from across the carbon and nature-based solutions ecosystem to co-develop strategic recommendations for digital MRV (dMRV) adoption in the BioCarbon Standard.<\/p>\n

dMRV and its importance to carbon and biodiversity markets<\/strong><\/p>\n

dMRV leverages cutting-edge technologies\u2014such as satellites, sensors, AI, and blockchain\u2014to streamline and enhance environmental data collection, reporting, and auditing. It helps increase accuracy, transparency, and efficiency while reducing costs.<\/p>\n

How dMRV is key to BioCarbon Standard and project development<\/strong><\/p>\n

Methodology Improvement<\/strong>
dMRV enables data-driven design and automated compliance, making methodologies more accurate, current, and easier to update.<\/p>\n

Project Screening & Approval<\/strong>
It accelerates feasibility assessments, improves risk identification, and ensures precise boundary verification using geospatial tools.<\/p>\n

Data Management & Registry<\/strong>
dMRV supports secure, scalable data storage with blockchain-enabled traceability and interoperability across tools and platforms.<\/p>\n

Validation & Audit<\/strong>
It simplifies verifier access, automates anomaly detection, and reduces time and cost of audits while boosting reliability and transparency.<\/p>\n

dMRV Working Group Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Assess current MRV practices and identify integration opportunities<\/li>\n
  • Explore relevant digital technologies for BioCarbon's needs<\/li>\n
  • Define concrete pathways to embed dMRV in standards and project cycles<\/li>\n
  • Identify risks and mitigation strategies for digital adoption<\/li>\n
  • Develop a strategic, phased roadmap toward full dMRV integration by 2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Working Group Structure and Commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Working Group is a voluntary, contributor-based exercise.<\/p>\n

    Selected participants will be expected to actively engage in discussions, share their expertise, and contribute to the working group's deliverables.<\/p>\n

    • Frequency: <\/strong>5 meetings over the period of September - November 2025.<\/li>\n
    • Size:<\/strong> 8-10 members as individual experts or representing their organization (e.g. MRV service provider)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Technology providers, project developers, marketplaces, VVBs, financing institutions and individual experts interested in participating. Participants should be interested in contributing technical insights, identifying practical challenges, and shaping BioCarbon\u2019s digital MRV roadmap<\/p>\n
