BioCarbon only issues Verified Water Credits (VWCs) when a duly accredited and BioCarbon-approved Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) has previously performed the required audit process for the water project and BioCarbon has determined the project to be in conformity with the applicable requirements of the BioCarbon Water Standard (BWS), the approved methodology, BioCarbon tools, and the current Audit Manual.
CABs conducting audits under the BWS shall comply with BioCarbon’s principles and requirements, maintain valid and applicable international accreditation, and act at all times in accordance with the principles of impartiality, independence, competence, consistency, transparency, and evidence-based evaluation.
Accreditation is a necessary but not sufficient condition to operate under the BWS. BioCarbon may approve, condition, limit, suspend, or withdraw the participation of a CAB where compliance with the applicable accreditation, competence, independence, impartiality, or procedural requirements is not demonstrated.
CABs interested in auditing water projects that intend to obtain VWCs under the BioCarbon Water Standard shall complete the Application Form and submit it, together with all required supporting documentation, to cab@biocarbonstandard.com.
